Perkins Center for the Arts
RIVER and ROOTS: A Printmakers Show
RIVER is the Delaware, signifying the reach of a group of artists who are from New Jersey and Pennsylvania and the bridge between arts communities in Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey.
ROOTS are the artists affiliations and subject matter; some express literally, some abstractly in their work. The artists internalize then respond to their social and political environment; their work being a reminder of a connection to our beautiful and suffering planet and to each other.
Their work "represents a population of artists whose work expresses our internalization and response to the social and political environment..." It is "a reminder of our connection to our beautiful and often suffering planet and to each other."
