Pagus Gallery
Julie Boyer will exhibit a series of blueprints mapping the artist’s reconciliation of the ideal-- the process of generation, creation and possibility-- with action in which relationships and outcomes have real (and high) stakes. Specifically, she addresses relationships created while putting herself at service to other people in the past year, the purpose and limits of ambition and good intentions, and the unavoidable tricky questions that power imbalances present.
Using the form of the blueprint, the artist exposes the discrepancy between design’s appearance of completeness and the ongoing work demanded when one commits to real people.
