Wharton Esherick Museum's Philagrafika 2010 Programs

 

The Wharton Esherick Museum will host two events during Philagraphika 2010:

On Saturday, March 20, from 10 to 4 the Museum, in collaboration with The Common Press of the University of Pennsylvania, will present a demonstration of printing using an Esherick wood block and Esherick s restored Washington Press (c. 1836). The demonstration will occur in Wharton Esherick s handcrafted studio. Restrike prints will be available for sale.

In addition, from March 5 through March 28, the Museum will present an exhibition of more than 30 wood block prints and engravings, along with blocks and illustrated books by Wharton Esherick at the Phoenix Village Art Center in Phoenixville, just four miles from the Museum. Original prints and restrikes will be available for sale. Information on gallery hours and directions to the Phoenix Village Art Center are available at www.phoenixvillageartcenter.org.

About the Museum

The Wharton Esherick Museum, located near Valley Forge National Park, is the handcrafted home and studio of Wharton Esherick (1887-1970). The studio, a National Historic Landmark for Architecture, is Esherick s greatest work of art. The sculptural environment he created is filled with more than 200 examples of his painting, prints, sculpture, sculptural furniture and furnishings. Guided tours are available by reservation.
